Timely access to patients’ hospital reports helps physicians offer better care. At family health teams throughout Ontario, electronic hospital reports are speeding up access to information, connecting hospitals to physicians by allowing them to send patient reports to doctors’ offices.
Electronic hospital reports eliminate paper processes – such as faxes and mail – reducing the time it takes for patient information to reach physicians. Automated hospital reports enable doctors to receive information from hospitals directly into their electronic medical record system. This allows doctors to electronically collect, manage and share health information. Today, hospital report solutions electronically deliver more than 400,000 patient hospital reports per month to primary care providers, from 54 per cent of Ontario’s hospitals.
