Physicians across the province now have access to valuable patient lab data through their existing certified EMR software. This latest innovative approach to electronic health care is one more way eHealth Ontario is putting critical patient information into the hands of health care providers and improving health outcomes.
In partnership with OntarioMD (which works on behalf of physicians to leverage information technology to meet the growing needs of patients and physicians), eHealth Ontario has certified 13 electronic medical record (EMR) software vendors for access to Ontario laboratories information system (OLIS) data for clinical use. The vendors are in the process of making OLIS data available to their physician customers through their certified EMR software. Thus far, more than 1,200 practices, almost 4,400 physicians and 375 nurse practitioners are engaged in OLIS implementation.
