ConnectingOntario brings together local, regional and provincial health care assets in different parts of the province — connecting them to improve patient care. The program has three service delivery hubs that have existed for a number of years under their own regional branding and program names: connectingGreaterTorontoArea; connectingSouthWestOntario; and connectingNorthernandEasternOntario.

Since significant progress has been made by the regions, and we’re focusing on working on province-wide connections, it’s time to shift the brand. We’ll now be using the phrase ConnectingOntario, accompanied by the region name, since it better represents the end goal of establishing a single electronic health record across Ontario, while continuing to advance adoption in the regions. This streamlined and simplified brand will make it easier for health care providers to understand the services and assets available to them, and how they fit together.

This won’t have any effect on the users – all programs and services stay the same and we’ll continue to roll out the ConnectingOntario viewers to more sites. We’re taking a practical approach, so while new materials will be rebranded, readers may see the old brand on existing print materials until the content needs to be updated. The regions have differing needs and stakeholders so the rollout won’t be exactly the same in all three hubs. The northern and eastern region and the GTA will begin using the new branding the week of July 4th.
