Diagnostic Imaging Common Service Standard (DI CS)
This initiative enhances the delivery of patient care in Ontario by building on the success of the regional diagnostic imaging repositories. It provides comprehensive secure access to a patient’s provincial longitudinal digital imaging record from anywhere and at any time. The digital imaging common service standard is used by system implementers to support the sharing of digital imaging reports and images.
Key benefits include: consistent data exchange format across the regional diagnostic imaging repositories and easier access for retrieval of reports and images for viewing.
Scope
The Diagnostic Imaging Common Service initiative enables and supports sharing and viewing of diagnostic imaging results across Ontario to all hospital and community-based health care providers anytime, anywhere, using the tools best suited to their work practices. Currently it offers clinicians the ability to view diagnostic imaging reports and images using the Provincial DI Viewer. This all can be accessed through eHealth Ontario’s ONE® Portal. In the future standardized naming of diagnostic procedures for consistent viewer display of information to clinicians at point of service and naming across the province will be implemented leveraging provincial terminology services.
